Internationally known for its Free Zone, site where millionaire business transactions take place. But Colón offers more than this, at the north entrance of the Panama Canal this province welcomes the navy world. The Gatun Locks are located here and there is a bridge in which you can go by car all the way to the Down Coast of Colón and such areas as the old military base Sherman and the Fortress of San Lorenzo through which the Pirate Henry Morgan passed by on his way to the treasures in Panama City. The High Coast offers transparent beaches. Portobelo is the town that holds the ruins of what was in the 16th and 17th century the wealthiest port between Spain and America.  Also in this area people celebrate the pilgrimage of the Black Christ of Portobelo that attracts thousands of visitors each year.  Islands, as Isla Grande are ideal for snorkeling and diving, or simply to relax and observe the marine floor.
